Brief summary of main duties (includes but not limited to): A desktop publishing artist is a skilled DTP Art Director, responsible for translating the templatized work of creative art directors, populating a price and product layout against a brief and finalising it into print and digital files.
Working to a design brief from the client or designer. Using DTP software (Adobe Suite, especially InDesign) to produce a layout for each page of the publication. Using internal systems; workbook to action briefs, communication, timesheets. Using RMS to fully complete all DTP work - no manual changes unless communicated and flagged. Meeting required deadlines, tight turn arounds. Fully understanding and adhering to DTP processes and systems for communication, circulation, FA checks and disking. Understanding the full FA check list and adhering to this at all times, making sure each job has gone through the FA check list. Selecting formatting, such as the size and style of type, column width and spacing. Selecting and checking colours. Excellent attention to detail. Minimum Relevant Experience required: 2+ yrs experience in DTP Art Direction Experience in working within a live retail environment would be advantageous Understanding pressures Skills/Attributes: Attention to Detail - job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks Excellent communication and organizational skills Dependability - job requires being reliable, responsible, dependable and fulfilling obligations Initiative - job requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges, working long hours Works well under pressure, can take instructions, work independently and with other resources Flexible, motivated and willing to go the extra mile Ability to work over and above the normal working hours from time to time Excellent time management and organizational skills Solutions Driven Logical Thinker Strong spoken & written communication Calm under pressure, yet a sense of urgency Ability to multi-task Minimum Education requirements: Diploma in Art Direction - highly advantageous but not essential Relevant Adobe software Mac knowledge
