Role and ReportingDry Process Manager will manage the Weaving, Warp Knitting, Weaving Preparation and Yarn Storage operations to ensure that the required standards of Productivity, Quality, Service and Safety are always aligned with or exceed stated KPIs. The Dry Process Manager will work closely with PD & Design to ensure that technical considerations are taken into account up-front during the development process prior to proposals being offered to the client. The position will report directly to the COO.Principal Accountabilities:KPA 1; Productivity:Manage the efficient running of the Weaving, Warp Knitting and Weaving Preparation departments to ensure that productivity targets & quality standards are met.Manage rejects & waste to ensure that raw material yield is maximised & losses are minimized.Ensure machines are maintained to minimise downtime & operate within production parameters.Manage the replenishment of Weaving, Warp Knitting and Weaving Preparation consumables & maintain stock levels.Ensure all relevant documentation is maintained & controlled for reporting & record keeping purposes.Liaise with the planning department to ensure that yarn inventory levels are optimized.Effectively manage the yarn store to ensure stock accuracy, on-time transaction processing and physical yarn receipts and issues are executed.KPA 2; Quality:Coordinate the monitoring & measurement of KPI's for your area of responsibility to ensure continuous improvement, that anomalies are addressed timeously, & objectives & targets are met.Manage Non-Conformity Reporting process to fully address quality and process related issues.Conduct closed loop root cause analysis to effectively manage quality, waste and process related issues.Conduct Internal Audits as required to ensure adherence to applicable standards & drive continuous improvement.Ensure that all Safety protocols are managed as per company policies and procedures; and relevant legislation.Coordinate the sample process through the Weaving & Preparation departments to ensure that new products are properly evaluated & costed prior to being put into production.Give input into new product developments to ensure that they are suitable from an operational standpoint & to guide the designers so that realistic & suitable designs are submitted to the customer.KPA 3; COST:Formulate annual Departmental Budgets to ensure that all operating costs are accounted for & the product is properly costed.Manage approved operating budgets to ensure that costs are controlled & financial targets achieved.Written reports are required to be submitted each month on a date to be determined by Top Management.Give input into the Product Costing process to ensure Weaving, Warp Knitting and Weaving Preparation processes are properly costed.Develop Bills of Materials for the Weaving, Warp Knitting and Weaving Preparation component of product specifications to ensure that product is properly costed, & the accuracy of the MRP & ERP systems.Negotiate contracts & pricing in conjunction with management and procurement chemicals and consumables to ensure competitive prices are paid.Develop & optimise process methodologies & recipes to ensure that processes are optimised in terms of time, quality, reproducibility & cost.KPA 4; Leadership:Actively demonstrate leadership of the Weaving, Warp Knitting and Weaving Preparation operations to provide clear direction & ensure alignment with strategic goals & objectives.Identify & manage all risks in your area of responsibility to ensure that these are properly controlled & mitigated as appropriate.Manage the compliance of all processes & activities in your area of responsibility to ensure that relevant statutory, insurance & other requirements are always met.Manage the change control process for your area of responsibility to ensure that any significant product, process, & equipment/infrastructure changes are properly evaluated & controlled.Manage the Communication processes in your area of responsibility, through Notice Boards, Worker Forums, etc., to ensure effective communication at all levels & a positive IR climate.Act as a subject matter expert within the organisation to assist with identifying ongoing Resource requirements and resolving technical challenges.Job Competencies:Strong leadership skillsStakeholder management skillsStrong interpersonal skillsStrategic thinkingLean Manufacturing / Total Quality ManagementEffective in executing closed loop problem solvingDecisiveness in execution of decisions and strategiesCommercial mindsetFinancial acumenResilienceResults drivenInnovative skillsSolution drivenExperience and Knowledge:A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Weaving Manager role within a textile manufacturing operation.A solid track record in leading and managing in a manufacturing environment – vertical textiles manufacturing experience, especially in weaving preparation and warp knitting would be a definite advantage.Working knowledge of dyeing technology, processing and chemistry would be an added consideration.Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of applicable industry legislation and regulatory framework, including experience in their application.Performance history in the preparation and management of strategy development.Comprehensive experience in people leadership and stakeholders' management.A track record of executing a successful turnaround, in the manufacturing sector, would be an advantage.Qualifications:Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent recognized Diploma (Textile Technology / Engineering)Post graduate certifications in production management and SHEQ would be a distinct advantage.Working knowledge of Management Systems (e.g Lean Sigma, Integrated Management Systems – ISO 9001; 14001; 45001)
