Drive Technician - Variable Speed Drives

The company is an electrical automation business based Pinetown KZN. Looking for a Drive technician to repair, install and service existing VSDs as well commission new general purpose drive installations. The role is a hybrid role between site and the office. Candidates will also need to interpret electrical drawings in fault finding situations.Objectives of the role1. Support the technical department in carrying out board level repairs and VSD testing.2. Support the technical department with drive installations and removal.3. Record necessary information on reports so we have a historic database to refer back to4. To understand electronic principles for drives.5. To detect electrical problems with drives.6. Exercise accuracy and professionalism in repair work.7. Manage all assigned jobs as per the companies requirements to provide smooth workflow in our business management systemResponsibilties1. Fault find and perform board level repairs on variable speed drives2. Run testing of variable speed drives to simulate faults3. Run testing of variable speed drives after repairs are carried out4. Install and commission variable speed drives5. Keep an accurate time sheet and enter labour hours into job management system6. Perform fault finding on equipment on site if required.7. Sourcing of parts and creation of quotes that include estimation of labourRequired Skills1. Proven working experience in an electronic technicans role2. Solid understanding of electrical principles and electronic signals3. Proven ability to fault find using electrical drawings4. Detail orientated and organised5. Hands-on experience with variable speed drives6. Well Spoken English Language7. Proficient in Microsoft word and excel8. Customer service driven9. Relevant qualifications, Electrical, Electronics10. 8+ years of work experience in the electronics field
