CAD / Revit Draughtsman – Chilled Water Schematics Location: Cape Town Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled CAD / Revit Draughtsman with experience in chilled water systems to join our dynamic engineering team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings and schematics for chilled water system designs, utilizing CAD and Revit software.
Your work will support the design and execution of HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings, layouts, and schematics of chilled water systems using AutoCAD and Revit.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and other design team members to develop and refine system designs.
Interpret engineering designs, specifications, and technical data to ensure drawings comply with the project scope.
Create and modify building information models (BIM) to reflect accurate chilled water system layouts and pipework.
Ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and comply with industry standards, including ASHRAE, and local codes.
Coordinate with other disciplines (electrical, structural, architectural) to ensure design integrity and integration of the chilled water systems.
Perform revisions and updates on existing drawings as required, based on field changes or client feedback.
Manage and maintain all project files, drawings, and documents in an organized and easily accessible manner.
Assist in the preparation of material take-offs, equipment schedules, and technical documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
Proven experience as a CAD / Revit Draughtsman specializing in HVAC or chilled water systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is essential.
Strong understanding of chilled water systems, piping layouts, and mechanical schematics.
Familiarity with BIM processes and standards.
Knowledge of HVAC industry standards, such as ASHRAE and local building codes.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret and apply technical data.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing time and multiple tasks efficiently.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on large commercial or industrial projects.
Knowledge of hydronic systems and plant rooms.
Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and energy modeling software.
Ability to use other design software like Navisworks or Plant 3D.
