Job Summary:The Distribution Controller is responsible for supervising and overseeing the entire delivery function of Kerston Foods, ensuring that all goods are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on time.This role involves the supervision and support of all delivery teams, route plan implementation, vehicle and resource management, and performance tracking and monitoring to ensure the smooth operation of Kerston Foods' delivery services.The Distribution Controller will work closely with the Distribution Manager to optimize delivery processes and meet and exceed customer expectations.Key Responsibilities:Delivery Operations Management:Oversee the daily operations of the delivery teams, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of orders to customers as per logistics system.Ensure that orders are timeously sequenced in the most efficient way to meet or exceed company goals/objectives.Ensure all deliveries meet the required service levels, addressing any delays or disruptions in the delivery process.Ensure that all forms of communication are adhered to and that any necessary support, action and investigation are carried our timeously.Ensure that all goods are loaded, transported, offloaded & delivered in such a way that the integrity of the product is always maintained throughout the entire distribution function.Team Leadership & Coordination:Supervise and manage the performance of the delivery team, including drivers and support staff.Conduct ongoing communication to update the team on delivery schedules, priorities, and any special instructions.Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and training to the delivery team to improve performance and efficiency.Ensure that all S.O.Ps are consistently adhered to within the distribution function and that any variations are understood and solutions implemented.Vehicle & Resource Management:Manage and oversee the maintenance and allocation of delivery vehicles, ensuring all vehicles are in good working condition, meet all safety standards and are in line with company corporate image goals.Monitor fuel usage, vehicle mileage, and maintenance schedules to ensure cost-effective fleet operations.Coordinate the allocation of vehicles and drivers based on delivery requirements, ensuring optimal resource utilization.Manage the maintenance and usage of all resources/tools used in the delivery process ensuring that maximum usage & benefit is derived.Performance Monitoring & Reporting:Track key delivery metrics, including on-time deliveries, order accuracy, and customer satisfaction.Prepare and submit daily and weekly performance reports to the Distribution Manager, highlighting areas for improvement.Analyse delivery performance data to identify trends and make recommendations for process improvements.Customer Service & Issue Resolution:Act as the primary point of contact for delivery-related customer inquiries and concerns.Work closely with the other operational teams to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.Address and resolve any delivery-related issues, such as late deliveries, order discrepancies, or driver concerns, in a timely manner.Compliance & Safety:Ensure all delivery activities are conducted in compliance with local and national transportation regulations.Monitor and enforce driver compliance with company safety protocols, including vehicle checks, driver logs, and accident reporting procedures.Promote a culture of safety within the delivery team and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.Process Improvement:Continuously seek opportunities to improve delivery processes, using data analysis and feedback from the delivery team and customers.Implement new technologies and best practices to enhance delivery efficiency and reduce costs.Work with the Distribution Manager to identify and implement process improvements that align with the company's strategic objectives.
