Are you a seasoned retail professional with a passion for premium products? Our international premium confectionary Client is seeking a Director of Retail to lead their retail division and elevate their brand''''''''s presence in South Africa.
This is not a wholesale retail position. We are seeking a hands-on candidate with strong experience in traditional retail, deep knowledge of the South African market, and exposure to international head office operations. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, grounded leader who leads by example, uplifts their team, and drives growth.
Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Retail, you will play a critical role in the company, taking full ownership of the retail division. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic LeadershipDevelop and implement short- and long-term retail strategies to drive sales and growth.Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the retail team, fostering a culture of excellence.Analyze market trends to make informed decisions about product selection, pricing, and advertising.Financial ManagementTake full ownership of the retail departments P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and planning.Monitor financial performance, ensuring targets are met, and proactively improve profitability.Operational ExcellenceDevelop and implement operational policies and procedures to optimize efficiency.Ensure proper inventory and stock management, including forecasting, replenishment, and merchandising.Oversee store operations to maximize customer satisfaction and achieve company objectives.Customer-Centric FocusContinuously improve customer service to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.Develop and execute sales strategies to increase revenue and profit margins.Also responsible for D2C ( E Shop) and pure players and marketing responsibility by way of packaging, campaigns etc Candidate Profile
Proven experience in traditional retail management, preferably in premium or FMCG sectors.Strong understanding of the South African retail landscape.Exposure to international head office operations and best practices.Demonstrated ability to manage P&L, budgeting, and forecasting.Inspirational leadership style with a hands-on approach.Ability to analyze market trends and make strategic decisions to drive growth.Be part of a global brand known for quality and innovation.
