Purpose of the role
Based in our Cape Town offices (V&A Waterfront), the purpose of this role is to assist and be an integral part of the Digital Marketing Team as part of the Allan Gray Marketing Team.
Reporting line
The role reports into the Digital Marketing Manager, who reports into the Head of Marketing.
Job description
The job description and responsibilities will include, but is not limited to:
Media Agencies and Platforms: Interfacing with media and SEO agencies, and platforms to ensure excellence of our current and future campaigns, based on business and marketing needs. Determining the most efficient and effective ways to track, refine, and innovate digital marketing campaigns while always maintaining brand consistency with the broader Allan Gray brand. Understanding the daily, weekly and monthly "levers" that media agencies and platforms offer, and assisting with managing these.
Brand Team and Content Team interface / Creative Agencies interface: Assisting to ensure that digital marketing collateral meets the Allan Gray needs in terms of brand, tone, messaging and craft.
Tracking and Reporting: Creating, refining, testing and maintaining tracking and reporting for marketing campaigns as per the needs of the Marketing Team and broader business stakeholders. Managing, creating, refining, maintaining and testing tracking and reporting across platforms used by Allan Gray marketing, and from agencies. Providing business and marketing insights from these reporting tools for a range of stakeholders.
AllanGray.co.za (public-facing site): An ongoing understanding of the content, features and functionality of the Allan Gray public facing website and how these meet clients needs. A working knowledge of how to add, edit, track and monitor campaign related elements across this space.
Social Media: An ongoing understanding of the content, features and functionality of the Allan Gray social media presences and platforms, and how these meet marketing and clients needs. A deep knowledge of how to build, track and monitor campaigns across these spaces – and deliver post-campaign analyses and in-campaign adjustments, tweaks and refinements. Assistance with posting, reviewing and monitoring content on social media channels.
The role also requires:
A keen ability to understand business needs for marketing campaigns
A provable ability to assist with planning and assessing marketing campaigns and other marketing efforts (for example events and thought leadership pieces)
The ability to explain and even "evangelise" what digital marketing can do to support "traditional" marketing, and grow our brand, and deliver on acquisition and retention
A keen interest in understanding long-term ROMI, and providing marketing insights
A desire to grow the excellence, effectiveness and efficiency of the Allan Gray suite of digital marketing campaigns
Requirements
Excellent attention to detail
Demonstrable familiarity with digital and social media running or overseeing digital marketing campaigns, including but not limited to:
Digital display
Paid social media campaigns
Performance campaigns
Search campaigns, search intent marketing and the interplay between SEM and SEO
Bespoke digital marketing and digital content marketing campaigns
Evidence of in-campaign tweaks and improvements would be a plus
Demonstrable familiarity with campaign reporting across a range of platforms and tools.
Demonstrable familiarity with Excel and/or other spreadsheets
Knowledge of PowerBI or similar would be a plus
Ability to learn existing and new digital marketing campaign tools and systems
Good organisational and time management skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to operate independently as well as within a team
Proactive approach
Interest in paid media and other digital marketing developments
Interest in how digital communication effectiveness is tracked and reported
Qualifications and experience
Tertiary qualification e.g. BA (Marketing), B.Com (Marketing, Economics, Finance), B.Bus.Sc (Marketing, Economics, Finance) or B.Tech (Marketing, Communications) or an equivalent Advertising College degree / diploma. Exceptional ND: Marketing candidates with sufficient campaign experience may also be considered.
Minimum experience of 4 years working with digital marketing campaigns. Comparable experience as a BA with proven ability regarding understanding digital marketing campaigns may be considered.
Proven track record of strong performance
A demonstrable interest and passion for marketing effectiveness
A demonstrable interest in communication and presenting insights from data and information
Experience and technical understanding of digital marketing and social media marketing platforms, tools, dashboards and reporting suites
Active involvement in running current digital marketing campaigns would be advantageous
Active involvement in reporting on digital marketing campaigns would be advantageous
Platform certifications or relevant online learning certification would be advantageous
A demonstratable understanding of social media monitoring, usage and optimization would be advantageous
