Diesel Mechanic - Pietermaritzburg

Our Client in the Construction industry requires a Diesel Mechanic to join their team. Experience in Earthmoving Equipment is ESSENTIAL - Preferably living in, or near the Pietermaritzburg area.Experience:Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the maintenance and repair of earth-moving equipment.Familiarity with various diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical systems used in heavy equipment.Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.Technical Skills:Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related components.Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses.Competence in repairing and replacing transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other mechanical components.Knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring diagrams, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques.Familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools and software used in modern equipment maintenance.Safety Compliance:Understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to working on heavy equipment.Ability to follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and practices.Certifications:Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. (Preferably with Code 14)Preferably Red Seal Trade Certification.
