Our client in logistics industry based in Durban is looking to hire a qualified Diesel Mechanic to conduct all customer service work from maintenance to repairs, as per client job cardREQUIREMENTSGrade 12Must be a trade tested commercial vehicle Diesel TechnicianCriminal clear record ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESOperationalConduct visual inspections and/or on board diagnosis during the pre diagnosisReceive the workshop job card and check its content for accuracy and understandingEnsure flat rates on repairs are adhered toAttend to office hour & after hour breakdownsJob card sign offEnsure all parts used on job is booked to job card, ie engine oilsPrepare operating equipment and bring the necessary parts to the service bayPerform all maintenance services in accordance with manufacturers specifications and the maintenance schedule/maintenance computerPerform all visual inspections, calibration work, adjustments etcIdentify deviations, irregularities and unusual wear and tear and initiate additions to order & feedback to the Workshop ForemanReset maintenance systems as per internal processes and proceduresReset dismantled parts and prepare their return to supplier, if there are parts that can be reconditionedInspect disassembled and dismantled parts and replace them with new or reconditioned partsReturn parts (old/unusable parts) and document the work carried outCompare the current state of the vehicle with common production configurations and evaluate its technical conditionPerform final checks on the vehicle being repaired, using testing and measuring equipment to ensure repairs have been carried out in full, and that the vehicle is roadworthy and functionally reliableMaintain professional conductAssist in relevant operations/operational functions as requiredEnsure dress code is in accordance with company Standard Operating ProceduresMaintain housekeeping standards on a daily basisEnsure standards of Health and Safety are maintained
