Job Description
A large role player within the Renewable industry is currently in search of a Development Engineer. Our client is a reputable international firm, with offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Minimum Requirements:
BEng, BSc Engineering degree or significant technical training or experience in the electrical engineering field.
Significant experience in the South African energy industry either as a technical advisor, Development Engineer, a Developer or Consultant.
Experience within a technical department at ESKOM.
Experience in renewable project design and optimisation.
Experienced in developing and negotiating contracts including, construction contracts, grid connection agreements and power purchase agreements.
Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of Lender's, Owner's Engineers, Lender's Engineer, and contractors.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Work will primarily be on South Africa and Southern African solar PV and wind energy projects but there will be opportunities to work on other technologies and throughout the African continent.
All projects may incorporate energy storage systems, thermal generation, or other hybrid technologies.
The focus will be on greenfield projects but there may be a requirement to work on part-developed or construction phase.
The Development Engineer will provide technical guidance on grid connection issues including navigating the application and approval processes and cost/engineering optimisations.
The role will also include project development activities such as yield estimates, project optimisation, technology analysis, contract development, tendering, contracting, due diligence, cost estimation and construction monitoring.
The role requires travel extensively across South Africa and Africa, often to remote greenfield and or construction sites.
