The school is located on a sixteen-hectare site and pursues a holistic educational philosophy that includes academic, sporting, and cultural excellence as primary goals.The school seeks to recruit a suitable applicant to fill the position ofDeputy Headof Prep SchoolThe following are pre-requisites for the position:An appropriate undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the field of education.A Post Graduate Certificate in Education.At least ten years teaching experience.At least five years' management experience in an independent school, is preferable.Extensive experience and innovative ideas appropriate to this position.A passion for the development of children.Technological capacity and a willingness to work hard.Full participation in the life of the school and in extra-curricular activities.A commitment to work in accordance with the school's ethos.SACE registered.Police clearance certificate.Deputy Principal (DP)The Deputy Principal (DP) in the Prep School assists the head in ensuring the PS is a happy and effective learning environment for learners and teachers. The description of responsibilities below is not an exhaustive list of tasks, but a description of areas of responsibility. It may develop and change as the new structures are implemented and based on the individuals appointed to these new positions.Accountability:The DP reports to the Head of the PS.H/he is a member of MANCO.H/se is a member of the Prep School Committee.The DP deputises for the Head:Providing professional leadership in support of the Head.Assisting the Head in managing school duties on a day-to-day basis.Providing the necessary leadership and assuming the functions of the Head in her/his absence.Timetabling:Formulates the academic timetable annually.Gathers and integrates staff needs and accommodates these where possible.Reviews and resolves overall staff loads (administrative, professional, co-curricular, etc.)Substitution:Designs and develops the school's substitution plan annually.Ensures that leave forms are submitted and processed through the appropriate channels.Administration:Drafts, updates, amends, implements, and monitors the schools' policies and procedures.Compiles various forms, lists, and rosters as required.Designs and develops new administrative processes as required.Delegates administrative responsibilities to staff as appropriate.Ensures that curriculum requirements are met through delivery, recording, and accurate reporting on academic performance.Manages the development and implementation of initiatives to improve results in subjects; classes; other areas etc.Builds and maintains an ongoing partnership with the IEB (ACER and IBT's) and other relevant bodies.Ensures pastoral care policies and procedures are communicated and understood by all stakeholders.Manages the implementation and adherence to pastoral care policies and procedures.Institutes corrective action to ensure compliance to policies.Ensures that discipline policies and procedures are communicated and understood by all stakeholders.Manages the implementation and adherence to discipline policies and procedures.Institutes corrective action to ensure compliance to policies.Cocurricular programme:Designs, develops, and implements the school's cocurricular policy.Amends, updates, implements, communicates, and ensures compliance as required.Reports and feedback on cocurricular outcomes on an ongoing basis.Teacher and/or coach role:Engages in class teaching as per the workload of the relevant post and the needs of the school.Engages in coaching sessions as per the agreed cocurricular plan.Assists the Head in the orientation and induction of new and inexperienced teachers.Mentors, coaches, and provides general support for all staff, particularly novice and under-performing teachers.Participates in professional committees, seminars, and courses in order to contribute to and/or update professional views/standards as required.Staff management:Supports the Head in managing the staff appraisal process.Identifies opportunities for growth and development of staff.Provides general support for all staff, particularly novice and under-performing teachers.Assists in the identification and recognition of high achieving, performing staff members.Monitors and manages the execution of HR policies and procedures.The successful applicant will be required to fill this post from 1 January 2025.Interested applicants are requested to email a letter of motivation and CV with three contactable references to ****** by the close of business on Wednesday, 11 September 2024.Only suitably qualified and experienced candidates will be considered.
