The Western Cape Government has several exciting opportunities for highly motivated, proactive, suitably qualified, experienced and delivery-driven individuals who want to be part of the solution to help roll out the Western Cape Energy Resilience Programme.OfferThe programme aims at relieving the immediate impacts of loadshedding, addressing demand side management, and diversifying the province's energy sources in the short, medium and long term. The work is fast-paced and dynamic, involving multiple stakeholders in the private and public sectors, requiring innovative, critical thinking and testing of new grounds. Responsibilities include developing and implementing solutions for energy-related technologies, products and services at scale.Minimum RequirementsAn appropriate 4-year B-Degree/Honours, equivalent or higher qualification (NQF 8) in any of the following fields: chemical, mechanical, electrical or other engineering; natural, environmental or sustainability-related sciences; or energy, finance, economics or law. 8 years relevant experience in energy or related fields.RecommendationDriver's licence (code EB/B); Relevant post-graduate academic qualification in energy or related field; Experience in energy project or programme design, implementation and/or management.Key Performance AreasFacilitate the implementation of the Western Cape Energy Resilience Programme and related energy projects in the province.Manage and provide specialist and technical comment, advice, and guidance on energy systems, projects and programmes.Render energy-related strategic and policy development services.Drive collaboration with key stakeholders for the implementation of energy resilience programmes and projects.Manage M&E systems for Western Cape Energy Resilience Programme projects.Manage and perform financial and people management, including general office management.CompetenciesKnowledge of applicable policies and procedures including: Electricity Regulation Act, National Environmental Management Act, Integrated Resource Plan, Public Finance Management Act, Municipal Finance Management Act, Carbon Tax and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms, Integrated Energy Policy, and Public Service procedures.
