CORE PURPOSE OF JOBThe primary purpose of this role is to provide vision and leadership in the strategic development of the Universitys digital communication and marketing landscape.
This involves ensuring the delivery of an engaging, innovative and high-quality digital experience across web and social media platforms for all audiences, with a strategy that aligns with the University's mission, vision, values, ethos and key strategic growth drivers.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREASProvide strategic management and transformative leadership in Digital Communication and Marketing.Enable and support learning and teaching, research, innovation and internationalisation, engagement, and transformation, to enhance the academic project and advance institutional strategic objectives.Strategically deploy Digital Communication and Marketing within People and Operations to enhance the academic project as well as institutional and campus objectives.
Contribute towards resource stewardship and mobilisation in People & Operations within the Communication and Marketing Department.Contribute to the building and enhancement of the Nelson Mandela University profile and positioning. CORE COMPETENCIES Provide transformative leadership in digital communication and marketing, aligning strategies with the institutions mission, vision and strategic growth objectives.Proficiency in driving digital innovation and staying at the forefront of industry trends to enhance user experience and achieve institutional goals.Competence in leveraging analytics and metrics to inform strategic decisions, optimise digital performance, and drive continuous improvement.Expertise in leading, motivating, and developing a digital communication team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.Strong ability to build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including faculties, schools, and departments, to enhance the Universitys digital presence.Expertise in managing and optimising digital experience platforms (DXP), enterprise web content management systems (CMS) and social media management systems to ensure a seamless, user-centric, and effective online presence that supports the Universitys strategic objectives.Ability to plan, manage, and optimise budgets for digital communication and marketing initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources to support institutional goals. REQUIREMENTS M+4 qualification in Digital Marketing, Communications, IT, or a relevant related field.6 years or more experience in digital communication, social media and web content management.Experience working in higher education or a similar environment.Innovative mindset and strong problem-solving abilities.
