Your opportunity: Under the general supervision of the manager, the incumbent provides dental assistant and administrative services to the undergraduate and graduate students, academic and administrative staff and performs all aspects of dental assisting as defined by the ODAA for regularly scheduled and special programs.
Your responsibilities will include: Primarily working in the pre-clinical simulation lab (simLAB):Dispensing instruments, equipment, and materials to students.Organizing instruments, equipment, and materials for upcoming classes.Maintaining accurate inventories and ordering supplies.Working with pre-clinical Course Directors to ensure student assignments, instruments, equipment, and materials are distributed for classes, exams, and evening practice.Maintaining all aspects of the pre-clinical lab including cleaning, organizing, and applying IPAC standards.Ensuring compliance with occupational safety standards.Occasionally working in the patient clinics:Scheduling appointments.Updating and maintaining database records.Assisting faculty, dental students, and technicians during treatment procedures.Applying established standards when cleaning, sanitizing, and/or sterilizing facilities.Applying established standards when administering biological and/or medical imaging.Providing safety training and ensuring compliance with occupational safety precautions.Following rules and procedural processes related to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).Essential Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program, Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), and current member of the ODAA, including HARP. Current CPR certification is also required.Experience in the dental field, encompassing all aspects of dentistry.Experience using all dental-related materials and products (e.g., amalgams, impression materials, eugenols, disinfectants, put and fissure sealants, vinyl polysiloxanes, etc.).Highly developed organizational, time management, and communication skills and excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office.Capability to work in all facets relating to dentistry (e.g., mixing all materials).Ability to work quickly and accurately.Ability to work in close association and cooperation with others as part of a team.Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion, good judgment, and initiative.Demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately convey information.Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task; demonstrated punctuality and work dependability.Ability to act with sensitivity and empathy when responding to diverse groups of individuals.Assets (Nonessential): Familiarity with the Clinic Management System, Axium.To be successful in this role you will be: CooperativeMulti-taskerOrganizedPlease submit all applications (Resume & Cover Letter) to ****** with the subject line "Dental Assistant Casual".
