Deal Flow Manager

Details of the offer

Our client is seeking a motivated, organized, and impact-driven Deal Flow Manager with a passion for ocean conservation, sustainability, and innovation to join our mission to support ocean-positive ventures and help shape the future of the blue economy in Africa.

As a Deal Flow Manager, you will play a pivotal role in sourcing and managing high-potential startups while driving the organisation's shared mission to reduce marine litter and scale sustainable ocean technology solutions. Specifically in this project, we're looking for promising early stage companies that can be sent to our investment team to be considered for direct investment, or teams with a potential to get investment later but that need support through an accelerator program to get investment ready. Based in Cape Town, you will manage a small team of venture scouts, and collaborate with the investment teams globally to cultivate a pipeline of impactful investment opportunities.

Activities you can expect:
Identifying and evaluating promising solutions across the African continent, focusing on innovative ocean technologies.
Conducting initial screening, due diligence, and market analysis to assess business potential and sustainability.
Managing a structured deal pipeline using leading CRM tools.
Follow up with Venture Scouts and collaborate with the investment team and Program management team.
Building relationships with other investors, universities, and key ecosystem- and industry players to enhance deal sourcing.
Support selected startups through mentorship and growth strategies during accelerator programs.
Tracking and reporting on deal flow KPIs and emerging trends in the sustainability and ocean sectors.

We look for candidates who strongly believe that companies creating a positive impact in the world will create outsized financial returns towards their investors, and who have a passion for the ocean.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the African startup ecosystem, with a focus on ocean conservation and marine technologies. In this role, exceptional networking, relationship-building skills, and an established network in the African ecosystem are essential. We expect proficiency in deal structuring, due diligence, and financial analysis, with experience using CRM tools such as Salesforce, Pipedrive, or HubSpot.

We require a degree in Business, Finance, Environmental Science, or a related field, an MBA or similar experience, and 4-6 years of experience in venture capital, startup acceleration, or a similar impact-driven environment.

What we offer:
An opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation and sustainability.
A vibrant international work environment, with access to great networking opportunities.
A unique opportunity to continue to develop a leading impact as a Deal Flow Manager globally.
Flexible working arrangements with a competitive remuneration package.
