This role leads the solution support team which helps users across the organisation adopt and derive value from the data management tools and platforms. The Data Enablement Lead defines the service catalogue against which data management services across the data lifecycle are provided and works closely with the platform support team to ensure a holistic service is provided. The role defines and continuously improves the support model and influences the overall data management and governance operating model for the organisation.Job DescriptionLeads the support team that provides training, onboarding and user support for the data management platforms and tools that under CAO management. The role is required to ensure that the tools and services are adding value to the organization, and to build and support a thriving data management community.The following responsibilities must be fulfilled:Provide a support service to the organisation to help users understand the data management and governance disciplines, learn and apply the tools and processes and derive value from these capabilitiesLead a team of data management specialists, focusing on their delivery and upskillingDefine, maintain and optimise a fit-for-purpose data management and governance operating model, including processes, procedures, KPIs and responsibilities across the organisationDefine and deliver training material, guides and templates to help accelerate adoption and time to valueFacilitate community of practice sessions to motivate, enable and align data management and governance efforts across the organisationContribute to the data governance framework and process definition, as well as support the relevant forums with detailed input on data management and governance issues, including proposed resolution and status updatesContribute to the definition and execution of the enterprise data management strategyDefine implementation standards and guides and provide input into enterprise data management policies and standardsCollaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to analyse issues and define resolution actions that may go across multiple business areasEstablish and maintain a release management process for changes to the data management tools, including communication, governance, technical and business testing, prioritization and contingency plansRepresent the department at relevant portfolio, data and risk forums as an enterprise data management SMEEducation and Experience RequiredMinimum 3 years' experience defining or practicing enterprise data management and governanceBSc Information Technology, or Risk Management or equivalent DiplomaExperience with successfully managing large sets of data and delivering data-driven insights that have informed business decisionsExposure to database management and data modelingExposure to data visualization tools such as QlikView or Power BIData, governance or audit certifications would be advantageous, such as CISA or DAMA or any other relevant qualificationMinimum 3 years in Financial Services Industry10 years' experience across compliance, risk and data management fields5 years managerial and leadership experience5 years' experience in a risk and audit environmentKnowledge & Skills:Stakeholder management and change management fundamentalsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret large data setsAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersCommercial acumenImpactful leadership and collaborationExposure to BCBS 239 (RDARR), POPIA, Data security, retention and destruction would be advantageousMust be familiar with data management principles, including data quality, metadata, reference data, master data and data governanceRisk management fundamentals, preferably applied in an enterprise data management contextEducationBachelor's Degree: Information TechnologyAbsa Bank Limited is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.
