Job Description ROLE OVERVIEW The Data Governance Analyst will monitor and enhance enterprise data governance activities including metadata management, monitoring the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets.
The position will be required to establish, enhance and ensure adherence to Data Standards, Controls, Measures and Procedures by all squads in the bank to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs.
These standards must ensure the democratisation of all data assets in the bank and provide a well-documented, discoverable register of all data and related business meaning.
This will also enable the meeting of regulatory requirements by ensuring all data in the bank is owned, managed, curated and documented.
The Data Governance Analyst will either specialise in Metadata Management or driving of Data Quality improvements to ensure that trust is built in all data assets in the bank.
KEY RESULT AREAS Operational Delivery:
Developing and implementing data governance standards and procedures.Collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to establish data standards and ensure adherence to those data standards.Conducting data quality assessments and implementing data quality improvements.Establishing structures and custom attributes to enable data stewards in maintaining data dictionaries and data lineage documentation.Monitoring and resolving data governance-related issues.Providing training and support to end-users on data governance procedures and tools.Ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations, such as POPIA, GDPR and CCPA etc.Reviewing, analyzing and continuously improving data governance standards and procedures.Participating in data governance-related meetings and working groups.Coordinating the implementation of the Data Governance Strategy across operational units.Managing data governance tools, including their release strategies & partner relationships.EXPERIENCE Responsible for the development and maintenance of standard data operating procedures.Ensure adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data practices, policies, and standards both at a technical and functional level.Ensure effective internal controls by monitoring metrics and driving performance through improvement initiatives.Champion enterprise data governance and data initiatives.Deliver on data governance strategy and overall objectives.Ensure data governance initiatives result in enterprise and functional benefits.Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners.Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements.Provide progress reports on data governance issues and oversee periodic updates to Data Governance Roadmap.Assist with the assignments of the roles and responsibilities to the Data Users, Data Owners, and Data Stewards.Assist business with identifying data quality requirements and implement monitoring and remediation processes.To assist in resolving end-to-end issues regarding Data Governance that may arise from different departments in the Enterprise.Strong project management, risk management and data governance skills.Business Analysis techniques and master data management experience is essential.Technical expertise required to manage data quality results, promotion strategies of data governance tools etc.Some level of GitHub experience to understand repositories of the backend of data governance tools.QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar fields like Big Data, etc.A minimum of 4 - 6 years of data governance experience with strategic analysis.Related Data Governance certification(s) would be advantageous.Ability to operationalize data governance and data quality across the enterprise.Experience in implementing data management and governance roles, principles, processes and procedures.Implementation of enterprise level data quality, master data management and related metrics.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.The appointment will be made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual South Africa and the specific business unit.
