PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To tender and procure goods and services in area of responsibility (commodity)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:Grade 12/NQF Level 4 is essentialPurchasing Diploma or higher is essentialMust have at least 2 years experience as a Buyer in the mining environmentComputer literacy (MS Word & MS Excel) is essentialSAP PTP module is essentialMust have good financial control skillsA valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificateCOMPETENCIES:Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlinesMust have good interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external clientsUnderstanding of basic accounting practices is essentialMust demonstrate knowledge and application of ethical conductKEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:Analyse Purchase Requisitions to determine if sufficient detail was provided to conduct a proper market survey in the form of RFQs or formal tendersEnsure that all Technical Specifications, Scope of Work and bill of quantities is correctDetermine suitable bona fide suppliers for procuring goods/servicesSearch, evaluate and suggest alternative Suppliers for sub-commoditiesCompile tender documents for formal tenders or send RFQs to suitable suppliersEvaluate all quotations and select suppliers based on prescribed criteria, all technical specifications and Scope of Work (Transformation status of Supplier, Description, Price, Lead times)Place orders cost effectively with Suppliers for goods and services requiredIdentify repetitive special purchases for Contract actionAchieve accredited BEE spend targets and increase spend on local tier one suppliersEnsure that all procurement policies and work procedures are followed and adhered toMust assist with relieving and other administrative activities in the procurement departmentIMPORTANT: Short listed candidates may be subjected to a psychometric assessment.
