We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced CSSD Technician Senior to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the CSSD department, ensuring that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained to the highest standards.The CSSD technician is responsible for the execution of procedures and tasks to clean, prepare, pack and sterilize unsterile instruments, linen and consumables and to supply sterile requirements to theatre and other auxiliary departments in the hospital.Further Role Breakdown :Duties will include, but are not limited to:Actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goalCleaning of the CSSD and decontamination areaCheck that all sterilizing equipment is in good working order and service records are maintainedEnsure the Bowie Dick test is done daily with first load of the autoclaveEnsure the Heat-resistant spore test (A-test) is done daily for autoclave and hot air oven (Bacillus stearothermophilis)Wash and care for instruments according to the correct procedureEnsure that all required instruments for specific theatre list of the day are sterile and ready for utilizationPacks must be assembled for booked theatre list the day before and also for emergenciesAutoclave packs, instruments and basin as needed for the lists and the hospitalActive involvement in own professional development to maintain a satisfactory level of skill and knowledgeWork effectively and co-operatively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships that are mutually beneficialDevelop collaborative relationships to help accomplish work goalsComplete all relevant documentation and report all abnormalities to the person in charge of the CSSDEnsures that all documentation is maintained accurately and timeously reflecting CSSD procedures and care Leave CSSD clean and tidy at the end of the day's lists and prepared for the next day before going off dutyEnsure all stock is well controlled and managed appropriatelyMaintains a therapeutic, clean and safe environment that is free from medico-legal hazardsAdheres to the facilities medical waste management principles and all other waste management principlesMaintains a safe working environment in accordance with the Machinery and Occupational Safety ActReports and acts upon potential/actual risks identifiedAssumes responsibility for maintaining competence in emergency proceduresProjects a positive professional imagePromotes and maintains good working and interpersonal relationships with management, colleagues and doctorsRequirementsGrade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualificationCertificate of completion of CSSD trainingMinimum of 2 years in hospital/ CSSD environmentPrevious CSSD experience is essentialKnowledge and understanding of cleaning and disinfection processes and agentsKnowledge of Infection Control & PreventionKnowledge of storage of sterile setsKnowledge of safety hazards in CSSD and TheatreUnderstand the different instruments and its usesKnowledge of planning, organisational skills, ordering of supplies and quality assurancePlanning and organizingAttention to detailAbility to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditionsThe ability to display a good customer-focus by developing and sustaining productive customer relationshipsThe ability to prioritise by managing time and resources to ensure that work is completed effectively and timeouslyAbility to produce work of a high-quality standard by accurately checking processes and tasksThe ability to maintain a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge by keeping abreast of current development and trends in the medical related field impacting on the post
