Duties will include but not be limited to:Track and manage outstanding accounts receivable for the hospital groupGenerate and distribute invoices and statements to patients and insurance companiesMonitor payment deadlines and follow up on overdue accountsContact patients and insurance companies via phone, email, and mail to discuss and arrange payment plansNegotiate and establish payment arrangements, ensuring they are documented accuratelyHandle and resolve payment discrepancies and disputes efficientlyPerform regular reconciliation of accounts to ensure accuracy and completenessPrepare and present regular reports on collection activities, status of accounts, and any issues or trends identifiedMaintain detailed and organized records of all collection efforts and communicationsEnsure compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations related to billing and collectionsHandle all patient information with the highest level of confidentiality and integrityProvide excellent customer service to patients and insurance companies, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally and promptlyCollaborate with other departments (e.g., billing, patient services) to resolve issues and improve collection processesIdentify and suggest improvements in collection processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectivenessStay updated with industry best practices and regulatory changes related to medical billing and collectionsRequirements:High school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field preferredMinimum of 2 years experience in accounts receivable, collections, or related financial roleExperience in a healthcare setting, particularly in hospital billing and collections, is highly desirableStrong understanding of billing and collection processesExcellent communication and negotiation skillsProficiency in using accounting software and MS Office, particularly ExcelStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity
