Job Description The Civil Engineer acts as Engineer's Representative or Engineer to the Contract on civil engineering projects during the construction phases. During design and consenting phases of projects you will be responsible for earthworks, erosion sediment design, 2D & 3D geometric roading & drainage drawings, pavement, stormwater & surface hydrology, wastewater, water reticulation etc. including how essential utility services are implemented correctly. This will include technical design review for infrastructure servicing and design reports. NZ4431 construction monitoring and signoff is desired.
You will prepare schedules of prices, tender documentation, including appropriate specifications, and oversee the construction of civil engineering works, ensuring all projects meet the relevant industry standards and requirements, which you'll be responsible for sign-off. You will be responsible for the technical designs for a range of land development and civil infrastructure projects, collaborating with clients and project managers to create detailed scopes of work and design requirements, and engage with staff across departments on multi-disciplinary projects. You will be actively involved in fee proposals, setting project timelines and be responsible for delivering projects. Your role will involve handling multiple concurrent projects, mitigating project risks through a considered approach, embracing a positive and can-do attitude to problem-solving, and demonstrating effective communication skills, a strong work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail while working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders. Desired Skills and Experience Desired Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you should have:
5+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a recognised and relevant engineering degree and Civil CPEng accreditation. Proven expertise as a lead civil engineering designer, with hands-on design skills and proficiency in 12D or similar software. Proven competencies in 3 waters, earthworks, roading, pavements, and general civil design aspects. Sound knowledge of relevant industry standards, including NZS3910, NZS4404, TA design codes of practice, and NZBC. The ability to manage concurrent projects and handle responsibility. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others. High motivation, attention to detail, and an enthusiastic approach to your work.
