Country Manager - South Africa (Fintech/Remote)

Role Overview Dynamic: This role operates within a high-growth start-up where responsibilities evolve at a rapid pace.
The specific job duties of a Country Manager will change over time as the company grows and adapts.
Not Uniform: Every country presents a unique environment.
The company's capabilities and position in each market differ, and individuals serving as Country Managers come from diverse backgrounds and possess varied skill sets.
While some duties remain consistent across regions, others will differ depending on local needs.
Duties may be shared: In some markets, as the company expands, responsibilities may be shared with centralized functional teams (e.g., legal, compliance, finance), external consultants, or additional operations managers.
In such cases, it is essential for each team member to clarify with their supervisor who holds the leading or supporting role for each area of responsibility.
Emphasis will shift with local capabilities: As new capabilities are developed such as mobile money or cash/agent integration the focus of the role will adapt to align with these advancements.
Job Type: Full time/Permanent Workplace: Remote Responsibilities Establish and protect the Company's ability to operate Company registration, licensing Bank relationships Office space or virtual address Identify F/X partnerships (if needed) KYC parameters Ensure all tax and statutory filings are completed (with Finance) Represent the company externally Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the company, its products, and its client base Lead or participate in discussions with regulators in markets where visible interaction with the government is part of the market strategy Network with the local blockchain and FinTech communities Develop relationships with large traders and mass market customers, support fraud victims to the extent possible Represent the country and our local customers internally Finance, Compliance, Legal Engineering, Product Marketing Customer Service, Others Contribute to enhancing our local capabilities Partner with engineering to test the local version of our applications.
If multiple employees live in the country ensure they participate in testing as well.
Identify and engage potential integration partners especially fiat load/unload partners Grow the business by recruiting and managing relationships with larger customers Partner with OTC and B2B API teams to qualify, KYC and manage large customers Directly engage with larger traders, trading groups, investors and companies involved in crypto, answer questions and ensure their needs are met by the company if possible In support of Marketing engage the mass market (Tier 1) Assist Marketing as they localize mass marketing activities including digital advertising, public relations, social media campaigns and more Using frameworks, toolkits or other packages developed primarily by Marketing and others execute local engagement programs including events, brand ambassador programs and more Assist with recruiting, managing and supporting local personnel depending on function Where needed lead recruiting efforts for customer service, interns, brand ambassadors Assist marketing with the brand ambassador program Although employees are managed by functional supervisors, country managers should support these employees and help them navigate the company Provide basic human resources support for local teams by ensuring employees have health insurance, equipment, etc.
Bring more advanced human resources issues to HR or COO Financial management Manage a petty cash budget Ensure accounting has the information needed to reconcile all local accounts.
Ensure tax compliance (with Finance) Report cash positions as needed or requested to support the company's liquidity management needs Company culture Organize regular meet-ups with the local team (where applicable) Be a role model for the Clients organizational culture by creating a positive impact at every touchpoint Communicate in a fashion that is respectful and well understood Collaborate with your peers to collectively think of innovative ideas that drive business through technology Build and utilize working relationships with internal business partners #J-18808-Ljbffr
