The Costing Clerk is tasked with performing detailed cost analyses, managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), and ensuring optimal production pricing and profitability in textile and clothing manufacturing. The role requires advanced mathematical skills, data analysis capabilities using tools such as MS Excel, and effective use of MS Outlook for communication and task management. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Cost Analysis and Calculations: Calculate production costs, including materials, labour, and overhead, ensuring accuracy in cost breakdowns. Perform cost variance analysis and recommend corrective measures for discrepancies. Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Create and maintain detailed BOMs for products, accurately reflecting specifications, costs, and quantities. Collaborate with production and design teams to ensure BOMs are up-to-date. Inventory and Procurement Management: Collaborate with procurement to manage material costs, optimize stock levels, and negotiate supplier terms. Track and report on material costs, ensuring adherence to budget constraints. Advanced Data Analysis and MS Excel Usage: Utilize advanced MS Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data validation, for accurate cost tracking and analysis. Develop automated reports and cost models to reduce errors and increase process efficiency. MS Outlook Communication and Task Management: Use MS Outlook for effective communication with cross-departmental teams and suppliers. Organize and manage tasks, meetings, and follow-ups through MS Outlook, ensuring timely responses and smooth workflow. Mathematical and Calculation Tasks: Apply strong mathematical and calculation skills for detailed data analysis and cost accuracy. Ensure numerical precision in all reports, cost estimates, and budgeting exercises. Pricing Strategy Support: Work with sales and finance teams to develop competitive, profitable pricing strategies. Provide detailed cost reports and recommendations to management for profitability improvement. Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, design, and production, to achieve business objectives. Prepare comprehensive cost reports for management review, including trends and insights. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: Relevant qualification in Cost and Management Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Textile/Clothing Technology. Diploma or additional training in Materials Management is advantageous. Minimum 3 years of experience in a costing or finance-related role, ideally in the textile, clothing, or manufacturing industry. Proficiency with ERP systems and BOM management software. Advanced MS Excel proficiency, including the use of formulas, data analysis tools, and pivot tables. MS Outlook experience for efficient communication and task management.
