OverviewReference: LCA001Salary: ZAR25,000 - ZAR40,000/monthJob Location: South Africa -- Sedibeng District -- MeyertonJob Type: PermanentPosted: 26 March 2024Job Title: Cost AccountantLocation: Gauteng, Sedibeng District, MeyertonJob Type: Permanent, Full-TimePrimary Industry: Manufacturing and ProductionJob Duties:Develop and maintain a cost accounting system, including cost standards for raw materials and finished goods.Analyse manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations related to cost accounts.Participate in inventory management activities, including conducting physical inventory counts and reconciling inventory variances.Provide support in budgeting and forecasting processes by analysing cost trends and variances.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA) preferred.Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost control procedures.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Experience:Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.Knowledge and Skills:Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Attention to detail and accuracy.Proficient in inventory management practices.Preferred Qualifications:Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA).Experience with ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle.Working Conditions:Office-based role, with occasional visits to production facilities.Standard working hours, Monday to Friday.Potential for overtime during month-end and year-end closing processes.
