Cost Accountant Minimum Requirements: Minimum 2-3 years experience in cost and management accounting, including analysis and reporting Preferably a B.Com or equivalent and studying towards CIMA/CA Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP systems Business Intelligence Tools experience advantageous Ability to multi-task with good time management skills Pay strict attention to detail and accuracy Ability to collaborate with teams Responsibilities: Costings Action costings accurately and timeously.
Understand factors driving costings and profitability, and provide useful insight into the process.
Review and address concerns on costings and guide NPD in the development process.
Attend trials and ensure that product and cost concerns are raised in advance.
Communicate costings and reports clearly and effectively.
Ingredient Tools Ensure the accuracy of ingredient and BOM-related tracking tools.
Distribute ingredient tools.
Resolve queries related to ingredient tools.
Conduct weekly deep dives on variances and report findings to assist in correcting issues or deviations.
Capture and analyze Stock Take variances during month-end counts.
Factory Trials and NPD Process Support Attend factory trials to gain a thorough understanding of new or upgraded product manufacturing processes and provide insight into proposed changes to product costs (e.g., capex, opportunity costs due to capacity).
Accurately cost NPD or changes to NPD processes.
Maintain integrity and support the proper execution of the NPD approval process.
Calculate and implement any approved changes to product costing, outlining the impact on the cost base and profitability.
Monitor, review, and provide feedback on the actual impact of changes and new product costing as part of the post-launch process.
BOM Audits Perform BOM checks and audits as needed.
Conduct factory floor audits/checks as required.
Coordinate investigations and audits with the Management Accountant and Factory Managers to support cost control and maximize profitability.
Projects and Ad Hoc Reporting Assist in the compilation and tracking of Capex motivations and other irregular requirements.
Conduct ad hoc projects and feasibility studies concerning product profitability.
Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and systems within the cost accounting function.
Provide coordination and support for capital motivations, such as bill of materials and quotations.
Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.
