MacLean Engineering is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our Finance team within our Barrie, Ontario office.

About the Position: This position will involve, and could require proficiency with any of the following competencies: At a high level, this role will act as a link between Operations and Accounting on all issues relating to cost rates, manufacturing standards, and resolution of manufacturing variances.
In more granular terms, this includes the following tasks: Updating standard costs so that they approximate actual costs.
Assisting in the development of labour and overhead rates.
Investigating material, labour, and labour overhead variances in the GL.
Preparation and distribution of monthly purchase price variance reports.
Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects as required.
About You: The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized and detail-oriented, team-oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with any one of the following qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
A CPA designation, or in the process of obtaining one.
Preferred 3 to 5 years in a similar role.
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of standard cost accounting and manufacturing processes.
Strong ERP knowledge, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Ability to work with minimum supervision in a team environment – self-motivated, assertive, and organized.
Advanced Excel knowledge.
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
