Experience:The successful incumbent must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a Contract Manager on infrastructure or road projects.Formal qualifications:A bachelors degree in engineering (civil or structural), construction management, building studies, quantity surveying or a related field is preferredHigh proficiency in Microsoft ProjectsValid driving license code 08Registration with SACPCMP as PrCM or ECSA as PrEng/PrTechEng will be advantageousOwn transportResponsibilitiesThe contract manager will be responsible for commercial and contractual work.
Contract specific tasks Ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions of the contractConducting risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential contractual risksNegotiate contract terms with subcontractors and suppliers to optimize project outcomeOverseeing all contract administration activitiesPlanning Developing and maintaining a Contract Management Plan to guide project executionManaging claims for variations, extension of time and additional costs in accordance with contractual requirementsPreparing tenders for clients and commercial bidsDeveloping and presenting project proposalsProducing plans and estimating budgets and timescalesManaging construction schedules and budgetsHandling any unexpected costs and planning for unforeseen circumstancesDeveloping plans regarding the work scheduleCollecting data for forecasting and planning purposesClient relations and liaison Discussing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating the terms of business contractsLiaise with project stakeholders, including clients, consultants and subcontractors to address contractual mattersHandling and managing client expectationsAgreeing on budgets and timescales with various stakeholdersAttending site meetings to monitor progressActing as the main point of contact for clients, site and project managersProvide regular updates on contract performance to project management and other stakeholdersWorking with third parties to ensure that everyone understands their roles and responsibilitiesLiaising with technical and financial staff, sub-contractors, legal teams and the clients own representativesBuilding and maintaining good relationships with clients and suppliersLiaising with external stakeholders to document all activitiesCompiling and making of presentations to clients and suppliersQuality and regulation compliance Making sure construction projects meet agreed technical standardsEnsuring that all project documentation, including correspondence, payment claims and reports is accurate and up-to-dateIdentifying ways to increase efficiency and improve productivityOverseeing invoicing at the end of a projectEnsuring that all contracts are accurate and relevant documentation is correct and updated when necessaryIdentifying ways to increase efficiency and improve productivityMonitoring project progress to ensure alignment with the contract schedule and budgetStaying informed and updated on South African construction laws, regulations and industry standards and trendsHealth safety and environmental legislation and regulation complianceInherent requirements for the position:Strong knowledge of South African contract law and construction regulationsProven experience in claims management, contract negotiation and dispute resolutionWorking knowledge and experience with legal documentationExperience with IT and MathematicsStrong leadership skillsBusiness management skillsExcellent communication (verbal, written and technical)Excellent problem-solving skillsAnalytical thinkingKnowledge of project management softwareUnderstanding of contractual conditions and relevant industry regulationsExcellent attention to detailFamiliarity with standard contract forms such as FIDIC is a mustStrong interpersonal skillsShortlisted candidates will be expected to undergo psychometric testing and background screening.Applicants who fulfil the abovementioned requirements are invited to apply for the position by following the link:
