· Supervise daily site operations, ensuring smooth progress of earthworks, setting out, and civil engineering activities.
· Set out levels, gridlines, and boundary lines accurately according to project plans and specifications.
· Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure proper execution of works.
· Monitor and enforce safety standards in line with South African safety regulations and company policies.
· Perform site inspections and quality control to ensure that work is completed according to plans, specifications, and industry best practices.
· Liaise with project managers and engineers to address any design, schedule, or on-site issues that arise.
· Ensure that all materials, equipment, and labor are available and allocated to meet project timelines.
· Review and interpret construction drawings, ensuring alignment with site conditions.
· Track progress against project schedules and report any delays or issues promptly.
· Oversee the day-to-day management of earthworks, including excavation, grading, and the preparation of substructures.
· Manage and supervise the work of construction workers, ensuring tasks are completed to specification.
· Maintain accurate site records, including timesheets, material usage, and progress reports.
· Ensure compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and health and safety standards.
· A minimum of 4 to 5 years' experience as a Construction Supervisor, with hands-on experience in earthworks, setting out, and civil works (e.g., roadworks, drainage, infrastructure projects).
· Extensive knowledge and experience with setting out and levelling, including use of total stations, GPS equipment, and related surveying tools.
· Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil engineering drawings, including earthworks and structural layouts.
· Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.
· Experience working with contractors and subcontractors on large-scale construction projects.
· Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations (OHS Act, SANS codes, etc.).
· Relevant qualifications (e.g., National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar) or equivalent work experience.
· Valid drivers license (Code B or C) and reliable transportation.
