Role Overview:
As the Construction Manager at Franschhoek Wine Tram, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless transportation of guests on a truly unique experience in the heart of the Western Cape's wine country. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing road and rail transport operations/facilities and managing a diverse team ranging from maintenance staff to drivers.
Key Responsibilities:
Asset Management: Take charge of our fleet of vehicles and trams, ensuring they are well-maintained, compliant with regulations, and deployed efficiently.
Personnel Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team that encompasses maintenance staff, drivers, and other operational personnel.
Logistics Optimization: Continuously improve operational processes, find cost-effective solutions, and ensure the smooth flow of goods and services.
Compliance: Ensure that all operations adhere to legal, safety, and industry regulations.
Disciplinary Procedures: Implement and oversee disciplinary procedures to ensure compliance and professional conduct of staff.
Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management and stock control to maintain optimal supply levels.
Vendor and Supplier Relations: Manage relationships with third-party service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service quality.
Infrastructure Management: Upkeep, maintenance, and repair of rail and building assets.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A diploma or bachelor's degree in operations management, construction, logistics, project management, or a related field.
Proven experience in fleet management, ideally in the road and rail transport sectors.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of successfully leading teams.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capability to optimize logistics operations.
Knowledge of safety, compliance, and industry regulations.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
A commitment to exceptional customer service and a passion for the tourism industry.
