Our client in the renewable energy sector is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join their team on a 3-month fixed term contract basis.
The successful incumbent will oversee the Contractor's Health, Safety and Environmental compliance on the site during construction projects on behalf of the Employer.
Job Location: Clarens, Free State Job Type: Fixed Term Contract, On-Site Key duties and responsibilities Ensure a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe practices.
Ensure the control measures are in place that are contained in the project Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (HIRA).
Ensure the Contractor has Implemented the HSE Management Plans in its approach to construction to achieve zero harm.
Carry out safety inspection of Work area, work methods, conduct of employees, condition of machinery & Material.
Highlight the H&S requirements of safety to employees within the construction area during work hours.
Maintain record and conduct investigation of all incident/dangerous occurrences & recommend.
Advise the Resident Engineer on the implementation of H&S permit systems.
Attend and observe H&S meetings & review minutes of the proceedings for Employer.
Ensure the use of PPE & Safety devices and inspect their condition and fitness for purpose.
Report to the Resident Engineer on all matters pertaining to status of safety and promotional programmes at the site.
Encourage raising Near Miss Report on safety along with, improvement initiatives on safety.
Encourage an open attitude towards reporting of incidents and creating an environment for discussions of incidents, their causes and recommendations.
Confirm corrective actions are taken to address incidents and nonconformances by reviewing reports from the Contractor's H&S Officer and management Technical lead on specifics of the project Minimum Requirements At least 5 years relevant experience in the construction industry drawn from EPC delivery, project management environment.
Extensive travel is required Current Registration or membership with relevant regulatory body SAMTRAC qualified.
Understanding of Construction techniques with specific emphasis on construction works.
Strong people management skills.
