Description Our client in the Open-Cast Mining industry based in Brits, North-West currently looking to employ a Compliance Manager. Requirements: Relevant National Diploma or B Tech Degree in Safety Management / Risk Management or equivalent qualification.SAMTRAC, COMSOC 2, and NEBOSH certificates will be advantageous.Accredited with HPCSA.Driver's License and own transport required.3-5 years of post-qualification experience in Health and Safety Management, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, mining, or commercial services.3-5 years of ISO/Management Systems auditing experience.Advanced in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).Knowledge of financial policies, procedures, and processes.Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHSA) and Mines Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996).Understanding of ISO 14001, 9001, and 45001 standards.Minimum of 5 years of management experience. Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to: Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining a SHE system within the Group.Attend to SHE-related functions and ensure timely task completion.Drive the safety, health, environmental, and risk management strategy for the Group.Identify key SHE trends/issues and ensure effective risk management plans are implemented.Conduct annual induction training for staff, contractors, and new employees.Maintain SHE-related records for audits with an efficient filing system.Ensure fire safety checks and related records are maintained, coordinating corrective actions with other departments.Conduct OHS inspections and submit reports on time.Organize SHE activities such as toolbox talks, green area meetings, and committee meetings, and follow up on action items.Promote safety ownership across the organization, focusing on behaviour-based safety.Identify and mitigate risks through safety measures.Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and standards.Inspect work environments to maintain safety compliance.Manage OHS incidents, reporting, investigation, and COID claims, while maintaining the Group IOD register and submitting monthly reports.Assist with access control and train emergency teams (fire marshals, first aiders, etc.).Conduct risk assessments, address hazards, and ensure Health Risk Compliance.Assist with Department of Labour audits and rectify non-compliance.Address unsafe practices in Warehouses and Factories.Arrange for PPE procurement and distribution.Plan and report on regular fire and emergency drills, and assist with fire defence procedures.Coordinate AIA surveys, external audits, and Occupational Hygiene testing.Ensure legal appointments, machinery maintenance, and load testing comply with OHS Act.Manage employee medical fitness testing for new and existing employees.
