Main Purpose of the Job:To recruit transgender through communities as well as identify transgender who have defaulted (especially TB and/or HIV positive patients) in order to increase their access to clinical services (treatment of STI's, HCT, Family planning, and so on) offered by WRHILocation:7 Esselen Street, Hillbrow, JohannesburgKey performance areas:Conduct pre and/or post HIV test counsellingProvide adherence counselling and support to clients eligible for, or already on ARV programmeFollow up with clients have defaulted by not attending the clinic for their follow up treatment, CD4 count results or monitoring at six monthsEnsure that the hotels are timeously informed of mobile clinic day visitsPromote studies and recruit participants by conducting health talks and distributing brochures at the ClinicsObtain verbal consent before conducting screening interviewsInform willing participants that participation in the study is voluntaryConduct screening interviews to consenting participant to determine eligibility into studySchedule appointment with eligible participants to attend further screening at WRHI clinicRecord screened participants in screening registerObtain informed consent from participants for screening and enrolmentAdminister study questionnairesReceive queries from patients and address or refer queries accordinglyProvide adherence counselling and support to clients eligible for, or already on PrEP programmeProvide health talks at the clinics and hotels and ensure that the prevention, VCT, adherence counselling is promoted to the clientsCommunicate positive messages which focus on STI, SRH, TB and HIV and reflect integration of these messagesDemonstrate condom usage to clients as well as distribute to the outreach sitesCapturing results in patient files as well as documenting it in the required bookEnsure patient files are filed accuratelyPreparing files for outreachEnsure accurate and correct labelling of all specimen samplesEnsuring correct administration of Peer Educator timesheets and leave formsDrive the team to different transgender hot spots for outreachDrop off condoms at transgender hot spotsCommunicate to brothel managers and transgender timeously outreach plansCarry out necessary vehicle checks before tripsOperate vehicle with care and consideration to other road usersReport any vehicle faults, repairs, or accident timelyComplete relevant vehicle usage forms in accordance with policyTake ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-managementFollow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintainedMaintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedbackTake ownership for driving own career development by participating in ongoing training and development activitiesRequired minimum education and training:Grade 12Valid driver's licenseFluent in English and other African languages Required minimum work experience:Minimum 6 months working experience as a Peer Educator working in communitiesDesirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:Basic HIV education and counselingEmpathetic with good communication and interpersonal skillsComputer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeBe tactful, respectful and maintain confidentialityAble to work independently and work as part of a multi-disciplinary teamTO APPLY:Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.Please take note that the applicants who do not adhere to the above requirements will not be considered for the respective position.Please Apply Online and complete your registration on Ditto Hire (our application tracking system) to enable and protect you as a candidate to accept the new POPIA terms and conditions.
