Community Engagement HeadSt Andrew's School for Girls is a 122-year-old independent school in Johannesburg. St Andrew's School for Girls seeks to employ an uBambiswano Saturday School Community Engagement Head. uBambiswano has a 34-year track record of contributing to the educational and life skills of the children it serves from the Daveyton and Etwatwa areas. It aims to provide a positive learning environment which also promotes the values embraced by the St Andrew's community. The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of all aspects of the Saturday School and take responsibility for raising and increasing the annual income needed to operate and expand uBambiswano.
The applicant will report into the Executive Head and sit on the Combined Management of the School.
Required skills and personal attributes: Minimum of 5 years' experience and suitable qualification in an NPO/NGO environmentA keen interest and understanding of uBambiswano's vision and goalsThe ability to understand the requirements of, and the aptitude to interact with, social investors/fundersPositive interpersonal skills essential for relationship-building and collaborative networkingExtensive business acumen of active fundraising, budgeting processes and resource distributionDrive the scholarship process for students entering Grade 8Excellent team management and motivation skillsSound initiative, creativity, adaptability along with analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong communication skills – oral and writtenThe ability to speak and understand an African languageExcellent administrative and organisational skillsGood negotiation, diplomacy and conflict managementStrategic thinker who understands risk analysisA passion for education, particularly that of Grades 5 – 9The ability to exercise and demonstrate a duty of careComputer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, internet, website and database managementAvailability to work on Saturdays is non-negotiable as part of a 5-day working weekOwn transportAppreciate working in a values-driven, Christian environmentWillingness to uphold the ethos and traditions of the schoolWillingness to apply for clearance with the Child Protection Act and Sexual Offences Register.The School is committed to transformation.
