We are advancing medical education to better support our community of learners, including patients, students, residents, fellows and faculty.As Communications Officer, you will create a robust communications strategy that will highlight and profile our department's academic and research excellence and you will lead targeted outreach initiatives to engage new and existing audiences. You will be involved with communication projects that renew our communication channels and build a digital media presence to promote and foster a sense of community amongst our learners, faculty, staff and alumni. Your exceptional communications and design skills and ability to shape compelling content will enable us to optimize our digital footprint.Your responsibilities will include:Implementing communication plans and strategies that support outreach goals and objectives.Conducting interviews with leaders, faculty, staff and students for external publication.Liaising with the University's central communication office to pitch stories and liaising with department staff to support effective content/story development.Designing surveys and other research tools for program evaluation and producing promotional and outreach materials.Implementing a digital media plan and managing social media channels.Coordinating event logistics, including liaising with vendors and conducting post-event evaluations.Essential Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum four years of relevant communications experience in a university, teaching hospital or comparable environment.Experience implementing communications strategies and plans.Experience developing outreach strategies, including experience cultivating strong relationships with alumni.Proven experience writing concisely and to deadline; conducting interviews, translating scientific material, writing news and feature stories and speeches.Experience acting as a subject matter expert on content creation, visual layout and brand identity and key messaging.In-depth knowledge and significant experience managing social media channels, including building active engagement, maintaining a consistent voice and expanding reach.Demonstrated experience tracking and reporting on meaningful metrics.Experience conceptualizing and coordinating events, including post-event evaluation and identifying opportunities for improvement.Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems and survey tools.Superb communications skills, including the ability to concisely summarize information and write for various formats and channels.Ability to identify good story opportunities; excellent research, interviewing, writing and editing skills are essential.Proven design capabilities, including experience with web and graphic design software and working collaboratively with external vendors.A self-starter possessing the ability to work independently in a high-profile, time-sensitive environment and deal with competing priorities.Must be creative, resourceful and solutions-oriented.Willingness to develop and share technological expertise.To be successful in this role you will be:Approachable.Articulate.Insightful.Organized.Proactive.Closing Date: 10/29/2024, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USWAppointment Type: Budget - ContinuingSchedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 11 -- $75,223. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $96,196.
