The global communications team plays a critical role in implementing the Origins strategy and creating a safe, purpose-led and high-performance culture. The role of Communications Executive, Venetia Mine will be central in collaborating with the Mine leadership team, employees, contractors and various external stakeholders to implement and oversee communication plans in support of the Group Strategy.The role will primarily focus on the following key priorities:Key TasksDevelop and implement an integrated communication plan for Venetia Mine that supports the company's purpose and strategy.Lead the internal communications element of strategic business improvement initiatives and change management projects.Support Venetia Leadership Team in executing their communications responsibilities and delivering specific departmental objectives including annual media training.Drive employee engagement through coordinating quarterly engagement sessions across various workforce levels.Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify issues impacting operations and develop communication interventions as required.Coordinate crisis communications in line with the Group's broader crisis management plan.Lead conceptualising and develop briefing documents for photography/video shoots.Oversee overall management of internal and external events, campaigns and public relations.Conduct communication and perception surveys to gauge effectiveness of communication interventions.Overall responsibility of the mine's communications and media budget and monitors spend.Manage service providers in line with the mine's local procurement strategy.Build and nurture relationships with local media as well as proactively responding to media inquiries and requests for interviews.Managing media site visits and ensuring smooth coordination with journalists and site teams.QualificationsA degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or any other relevant field required.8+ years' experience in implementing communication plans, channels and campaigns at a corporate and operational level.Experience in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Relevant experience in building and maintaining the organisation's reputation and brand with internal and external stakeholders, interested parties and the public.Demonstrable and proven track record of developing, packaging and delivering successful internal and employee engagement campaigns.Understanding of the South African mining industry, including social issues.Knowledge and SkillsAbility to engage at all levels in the company with ease.Ability to negotiate with third parties and manage contracts.Culturally aware.Ability to deal with confidential/sensitive information appropriately.Team player able to work under pressure and prioritise and respond on a wide range of issues.Self-motivated and highly organised with ability to multi-task.Excellent writing skills.Additional InformationWho We Are: De Beers GroupEstablished in 1888, De Beers Group is the world's leading diamond company with unrivalled expertise in the exploration, mining, sorting, valuing, selling and marketing of diamonds.
