Location: Somerset West, Cape Town Purpose: The General Commodity Trader for Non-Perishable Goods will focus on sourcing, purchasing, and selling various non-perishable commodities.

The Trader will conduct thorough market analysis and implement strategies to optimize profitability within a dynamic and competitive industry.
Key Responsibilities: Market Analysis and Strategy Conduct in-depth market research on non-perishable commodities, such as packaged goods, textiles, and other raw materials, to identify trends, supply chain shifts, and pricing opportunities. Develop and execute trading strategies to achieve financial targets and meet company goals, adjusting strategies as market conditions change. Trading Operations Purchase and sell commodities, negotiating favorable terms with suppliers and clients to secure the best possible outcomes. Manage the logistics of trading operations, including coordinating transportation, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining quality standards. Utilize trade and financial tools to manage price fluctuations and risk, ensuring compliance with both company policies and regulatory standards. Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other trade partners to foster long-term business development. Act as the main point of contact for key accounts, providing market insights and ongoing support throughout the trading process. Negotiate and renew contracts, ensuring alignment with company policies and profitability goals. Risk Management and Compliance Identify and assess risks related to pricing, currency fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions. Implement risk management techniques, including hedging where appropriate, to safeguard against market volatility. Ensure compliance with all relevant trade regulations and safety standards specific to the commodities traded. Data and Reporting Maintain accurate records of trade transactions, contracts, and correspondence for accountability and transparency. Prepare and present regular reports on trading activities, profitability, and market analysis to the management team. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field preferred Minimum of 3 years of experience in commodity trading, with a focus on non-perishable goods. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in market research to inform trading strategies. Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills to manage client and supplier interactions. Familiarity with trading software, risk management tools, and financial analysis platforms. Knowledge of international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
