A Driver Trainer is responsible for teaching drivers the necessary skills and knowledge to operate a vehicle safely and efficiently.
This will involve teaching drivers the rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and safety procedures by means of theoretical and practical training as well as assessments, either on-site or off-site.
The purpose of a Driver Trainer is to provide instruction and training to new and experienced drivers in order to ensure safe, efficient, and effective driving practices.
A Driver Trainer's responsibilities typically include teaching and assessing driving skills, communicating rules and regulations, and helping drivers develop good habits and safe driving techniques.
They may also provide additional training for drivers who need to brush up on their skills, as well as providing support and guidance to drivers in order to help them become more successful.Responsibilities• Ensure applicant has valid driver licences & that the relevant testing vehicle are road worthy before any practical assessment is conducted.• Instruct drivers in safe operation of Code 14 vehicles.• Develop and implement driver training programs in conjunction with management.• Evaluate and provide feedback on drivers' performance.• Maintain records of drivers' training sessions.• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.• Keep updated with Road & traffic rules, requirements, laws and regulations.• Conduct driving practical assessment in accordance with required standards as well as company standards.• Conduct practical driving test assessment with drivers in accordance with the required road rules and regulations.• Timeous & accurate completion of assessment Performa's.• Furnish required reports of practical assessments for the recruitment manager.• Provide assistance to the recruitment manager/department when/if required.Skills/Knowledge· Knowledge and understanding of safe and economical driving practises and assessments.· Knowledge of vehicle techniques and vehicle physics.· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly orally and the capacity to remain calm and courteous in dealing with driving assessment applicants.· Strong Attention to detail.· Excellent Observation skills.· Valid code 14 licence.Experience and Education• National Matric Certificate (Grade 12)• Code 14 with valid PDP.• Previous experience in transport industry & practical assessments (advantage)
