Job Description Position: CNC Department Manager – Precision Mechanical Manufacturing
Minimum Qualifications: Trade Qualification - Fitter & Turner / Mechanical Degree
Experience: 10+ years of related experience, within the Mechanical Manufacturing industry.
Our client is a leader in the field of precision mechanical manufacturing. We are urgently looking for a CNC Qualified fitter & Turner who will be managing CNC department and Programming of CNC machines to produce components according to drawing and specifications, efficiently and accurately as required for our client based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Effectively manage and lead a team of 40-50 employees, ensuring their productivity and performance meet or exceed expectations. Production Monitoring: Continuously monitor production rates, promptly addressing any deviations from set targets through appropriate interventions. Process Compliance: Ensure that all production processes strictly adhere to specified requirements and standards. Quality Assurance: Monitor production quality in alignment with established procedures and work instructions, taking necessary actions to achieve the required quality levels. Safety Oversight: Ensure employees' adherence to safety instructions and regulations, promptly correcting any unsafe conditions or practices. Housekeeping Standards: Maintain agreed-upon standards of cleanliness and organization within the work environment. Industrial Relations (IR): Demonstrate proficiency in handling IR-related issues and effectively resolving conflicts or disputes. Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing training and development activities identified as necessary to excel in the role. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Collaborate with supportive departments as required to resolve issues and streamline operations within your area. CNC Program Optimization: Optimize CNC programs to ensure best practices are followed, leading to improved efficiency and quality. Team Development: Actively participate in training & development of team members based on skills matrix plan. SOP Management: Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance operational efficiency and consistency. CNC Programming: Proficiently utilize relevant software for CNC programming across various machines, including CNC Lathes, Milling Machines, Mill/Turn, and Swiss Type Machines. Program Adherence: Ensure that CNC programs are executed in accordance with established specifications and standards. Management Processes: Oversee relevant management processes, including daily employee timesheets, production tracking, and quality monitoring, as well as the generation of scrap reports. Product Knowledge: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the products manufactured and the technologies employed within the industry. Systems Proficiency: Utilize a strong understanding of the company's ERP system and other internal systems to facilitate efficient operations. Procedural Expertise: In-depth knowledge of company systems and procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and compliance. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed and ensure compliance with relevant labour acts, (OHSA), and any other regulatory acts that may impact the company. Software Proficiency: Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel and Word, as well as familiarity with MS Project. Design Skills: Apply drafting and design skills effectively to support the manufacturing process. CAD Software Knowledge: Demonstrate proficiency in using Solid Edge and Edge Cam software, contributing to efficient design and machining processes.
