We are currently seeking a Contract Negotiation and Budget Manager to join our team in Johannesburg, South Africa. If you have a strong background in clinical trial operations and contract management, then this role might be a perfect match for you. This position will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa under the Study Start-up Team department. You will directly report to the Study Start-Up Head Novo Nordisk. The Position As a Contract Negotiation and Budget Manager, you will be responsible for the operational management of clinical contracts and budget processes in CDC South Africa. In addition, you will be responsible for delivering assigned activities proactively and independently, in accordance with Novo Nordisk Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) and preparing clinical trial agreements and other contracts, ensuring compliance with Novo Nordisk policies and procedures. Your main accountabilities will be: Developing and negotiating Master Service Agreements (MSA) in collaboration with local legal and compliance, and preparing investigator and trial budgets in collaboration with Trial Managers. Developing and implementing effective processes on SmartGrants Payments and Coupa systems within the Clinical Development Centre (CDC). Building and developing an in-depth understanding of policies related to clinical contracts and budgets, and ensuring compliance with all processes. Acting as an expert on contracts and budget processes for other clinical functions and external stakeholders, and representing CDC South Africa in cross-functional project groups at regional, international, and global levels. Initiating change aimed at continuous improvement of the clinical contracts and budgets processes and practices, negotiating contract language with legal and compliance, and budgets directly with clinical sites. Qualifications As a Clinical Contract and Budget Manager, you need to have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or other Social Sciences. Moreover, you need to have a minimum of 2 years of Clinical Research Contracting experience from a similar position in the Pharmaceutical Industry or Clinical Research Organisation (CRO) or clinical sites. To be successful in this role, you should have: Great budget management skills are an absolute must. Strong financial acumen. IT proficiency: MS Office, clinical trial systems (e.g., Coupa, Smart Grants, Medidata Rave). Fluency in English. Excellent communication skills, excellent organization, and long-term planning skills. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, team-oriented personality with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. Ability to work in cross-functional teams. High degree of trustworthiness. Proven decision-making and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities.
