Duties and responsibilities:
Orientate the student to the facility and the unit as required.
Facilitate teaching and learning experience in clinical practice and assessment.
Be available on the clinical site to supervise students.
Participate in ongoing evaluation of the clinical learning experience.
Monitor student movements and record keeping in the clinical practice.
Maintain a portfolio of evidence of own activities and submit monthly or as required.
Perform other clinical duties as assignments, such as practical sessions in the skills laboratory/simulation.
Assist in the remediation of students.
Liaise between the UFS School of Nursing and clinical practice.
Inherent Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in nursing on NQF Level 8.
Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a professional nurse (General, Psychiatry, Community) and Midwife.
A minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in Nursing and/or Midwifery practice.
A valid driver's license.
Recommendations:
Additional qualifications in Nursing Education will be an added advantage.
Registration as an assessor with the South African Nursing Council.
Registration of a clinical speciality in one or more of the following areas will be an added advantage: (Midwifery and Neonatology, Primary Health Care, Critical Care Nursing, and Perioperative Nursing).
Clinical facilitators or preceptorship courses.
Experience as a clinical facilitator (more than three years is desirable)
Moderators and assessor's course.
Master's degree in nursing.
