We are looking for a Climate Risk & Resilience Specialist to support our Strategy and Advisory team.
This role will be based in our Cape Town office in South Africa.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated Consultant seeking a position within a growing and ambitious company with a unique service offering that provides a significant opportunity for progression and career development.
Key Responsibilities: Independently manage the delivery of project tasks and progressively build up towards a client facing role Time and task independent management Project management of a smaller scope of the work Delivery of consultancy projects to high levels of quality within projects deadlines Client facing and maintain high level of client & project manager satisfaction Guide more junior team members within the project team Ad-hoc analytical and research work for the division Reporting to a Principal / Management Consultant Willingness to work on ESG and decarbonisation related projects (not just climate risk) Essential Skills/Education: Degree in relevant subject (Civil Engineering, General Engineering, Energy, Sustainable Development, etc.).
Specialization in renewable energy or LCA preferred.
Preferred Industry Experienced in Real estate development, physical / financial asset management / operation Minimum years of experience - 3 to 4 years Understanding of Climate Models: Proficiency in interpreting climate models, forecasts, and projections, especially IPCC reports and regional climate models.
Data Analysis Skills / Risk Modelling: Ability to interpret climate data and metrics, from extreme weather patterns to sea-level rise predictions, using tools like GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
Familiarity with quantitative risk models, scenario-based analysis Risk Management Frameworks: Understanding of the requirements of LEED, TCFD, SASB, IFRS frameworks Climate Adaptation Strategies: Knowledge of adaptive measures for infrastructure, ecosystems, sustainable urban planning, nature-based solutions Climate Policy Understanding: Knowledge of relevant MENA and international policies and frameworks (e.g.
Net zero commitments, EU Taxonomy, Paris Agreement) Good to have skills Financial risk analysis: Ability to assess financial impact of the climate risks on assets (e.g.
Value at Risk metrics).
Cost-benefit analysis.
