Details of the offer

Who You'll Work With You will be based in our Johannesburg office as part of the firm's Client Service Risk (CSR) function, whose mission is to enable client impact and innovation in a way which manages risks to our clients, people, and the firm. CSR is a globally integrated team with colleagues from diverse professional backgrounds, including communications, consulting, government, and law.
Our function advises firm leadership on risks across the lifecycle of our client engagements, including client selection, management of work scope, and changes in operational circumstances. You can learn more about the firm's risk framework and policies at this link.

What You'll Do As part of the Client Service Risk (CSR) team, you will deliver expert risk advice and guidance that enables McKinsey's most cutting-edge work while building and shaping a world-class risk management program.
You will review cases and provide guidance on how to manage potential risks stemming from digital client engagements and the creation and launch of various client capabilities (e.g., new service offerings; new products, including client-facing digital analytics or assets; etc.), supporting senior CSR colleagues on the most complex cases.
You will partner closely with and integrate advice from across firm functions (including Privacy, InfoSec, and Legal) and 'cells' (practices, offices, new delivery models) to provide counsel on multi-faceted issues. You will develop and implement best practices for operational risk requirements related to software delivery (including OSS and SaaS), AI/ML, privacy, and new tech-related products. You will support program development and delivery of priority initiatives and matters.
You will be expected to develop a general knowledge of and ability to diagnose and assess risk areas and policy areas and support the broader EEMA risk team in managing lower-risk engagements in these domains or triaging them to expert or senior colleagues.
In addition to developing your general risk knowledge you will assess the risk profile of tech-related products, tools and services that come up for review. You will assist CSR colleagues with preparing briefing materials for risk committee consideration of higher risk engagements, particularly where firm policies are not yet clear about the preferred risk stance. And you will educate colleagues in EEMA on digital and analytics/client capabilities risk matters, and support knowledge sharing initiatives across the firm as they relate to these risk areas.
