Our client in the Employment Benefits space seeks a Consultative SQL Support Developer
Their team environment is one of collaboration, upskilling and learning from senior team members.
They work alongside their clients' Accounting packages thus a requirement is accounting, finance and investment knowledge so you can seamlessly fit into their environment.
Responsibilities: Using the tracking system, you will be responsible for identifying drawbacks and making appropriate improvements, in addition, you will identify existing problems and implement appropriate solutions.The role requires interactions with clients' business analysts (or systems teams) to establish requirements for new enhancements. Analyse these requirements to build new business functions or enhance existing ones using T-SQL, to ensure that quality work is delivered to the client's specification. For example, developing workflows (using an integrated workflow tool) to design business process flows, or develop customised screens.Testing of various procedures and their interactions.Resolve support queries that are logged on our issue log system. (You will use and interpret existing stored procedures to resolve queries/errors).Analyse and resolve any system errors originating from the database.Query optimization.Writing reports and creating report templates.Data conversion and data cleansing will be required at times. Knowledge of SSIS would be advantageous.Liaising with our training department to document any new processes or changes to existing ones. Qualifications and requirements 5+ years experience (stable work history essential)B.SC Actuarial Science, IT-related B.Com, B.Sc (IT)Accounting and Finance: Our client's system is an integrated accounting and admin system that operates in the financial sector. Knowledge of finance (Accounting and Investments) is required.Database knowledge: You must understand the fundamentals of relational database design.Microsoft T-SQL: Extensive knowledge of T-SQL in Microsoft SQL Server Environment. You must be able to fluently code stored procedures, views and functions using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. You must have solid experience with the various T-SQL constructs (joins, temp tables, CTEs, variable tables, functions, and user-defined functions). You need to understand the fundamentals of indexing and should be able to analyse the performance of stored procedures to determine a course of action. You should be able to interpret an execution plan and should be able to use performance analysis tools to identify problems.Database Administration: You should be able to do basic database administration. This is not a DBA role, but DBA knowledge would be beneficial
