Job Title: Clearing and Forwarding CoordinatorReference: JHB001813-Chris-2We are actively searching for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our client's team based in Fourways as a CLEARING AND FORWARDING COORDINATOR. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the movement of goods through customs and ensuring the timely and efficient clearance and forwarding of shipments.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordination and Planning:Plan and coordinate the most efficient means of transport for goods, considering the type of goods, cost, transit time, and security. Arrange the necessary carriage of goods by road, rail, sea, or air.Documentation and Compliance:Prepare and process necessary documentation for shipping and receiving goods, including contracts, bills of lading, and bank documents like letters of credit. Ensure compliance with national and international trade laws, as well as regulations governing the transport of goods, including hazardous materials.Customs Clearance:Act as a liaison between shippers, carriers, and customs officials. Monitor customs documentation to facilitate the smooth clearance of goods through customs.Client and Vendor Liaison:Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and shipping companies to ensure that all parties are informed of the transportation plans and schedules. Provide clients with updates and reports on the status of their shipments.Risk Management:Assess potential risks associated with the transportation of goods and advise clients on insurance matters. Arrange appropriate insurance coverage for goods during transit.Cost Control and Quality Assurance:Negotiate with carriers, warehouses, and other service providers to obtain the best possible rates and service levels. Monitor the quality of service provided, ensuring that all services are carried out in line with agreed contracts and client expectations.Record Keeping:Maintain detailed and organized records of all transactions, correspondences, and documentation pertaining to the shipping and receiving of goods.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION:Strong understanding of international trade laws and regulations, as well as transportation modes and logistics.Excellent organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Proficiency in the use of logistics and customs software.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively across different levels of an organization.Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is often required.Professional certification in freight forwarding or customs brokerage is highly desirable.PACKAGE & REMUNERATION:Compensation will be determined based on qualifications, applicable experience, and previous earnings.
