Description: About Us The University Registrar's Office (URO) is a central support team that provides institutional leadership on student financial aid & awards, student accounts, client services & records, student systems and learning space management (LSM) and convocation. The URO works with faculty and divisional registrars to support undergraduate and graduate students throughout the student life cycle and is an advocate and service provider for University of Toronto students and tri-campus registrarial services.
The Learning Space Management (LSM) team has a focus on learning space excellence with stewardship of the University's central classrooms and testing space. The team provides leadership on academic scheduling, classroom design, instructional technology and accommodated testing.
Your opportunity: As part of the Tech2U initiative, which will be focused on supporting the right technology for instructional needs in the classroom, this role will be responsible for supporting and providing excellent customer service to faculty, staff and other users of the classroom technology provisioned in the instructional spaces used by the University community in pursuit of the curricular and co-curricular mission by: conducting hardware and software installation, maintaining electronic classroom technology (including preventative maintenance and servicing), setting-up and operating a broad range of technical equipment in classrooms (e.g. projection systems, computer systems operations for classrooms), and operating video-conferencing facilities.
Your responsibilities will include: Responding to service requests in a timely fashion, resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating as requiredSetting up and troubleshooting audio-visual equipment (e.g. video-conferencing, projection systems, classroom computer systems)Providing instruction on how to use equipmentAs the team leader for casual staff, directing activities of casual staff and checking the work of work-study studentsCreating technical documentation and user support guidesCoordinating the booking and delivery of classroom audio-visual equipment with contacts and maintaining audio-visual inventoryScheduling the setup and takedown of equipment required for eventsChecking that work is completed to the satisfaction of the clientEssential Qualifications: Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in Audio-Visual Services, or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum three (3) years with audio-visual, electronic classroom and computer systems, projection and video equipment requiredSolid experience in standard operating software and application packages such as Mac OS, Window OS and Microsoft OfficeExperience installing, connecting and testing audio-visual componentsExperience directing activities of casual staff and/or assigning and checking the work of work-study studentsExcellent knowledge of industry-standard video-conferencing and web streaming product linesAbility to handle and deliver equipment to locations across campus many times per day and on tight schedulesMust have excellent interpersonal and high-quality customer service skills, including professional written and oral communication skills to respond appropriately to formal correspondence with faculty and staffAbility to effectively conduct presentations in order to demonstrate classroom equipment useMust have the ability to exercise good judgment to meet tight deadlines in delivering and servicing equipmentAbility to work independentlyAssets (Nonessential): Demonstrated experience in training faculty or professional clients in equipment useAbility to work with web content applications (wiki's or similar) to update documentation and inventory informationTo be successful in this role you will be: AdaptableApproachableTeam playerClosing Date: 01/07/2025, 11:59PM ET
