CIVIL/WATER ENGINEER Position

JOB SUMMARY
Design and manage drawings of projects mainly in infrastructural services such as water supply and wastewater, including steel pipelines, water treatment plants, and reservoirs, ensuring that they meet project objectives. Report and work closely with the Snr Engineer, HOD Civil, and the project team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, manage, and guide Engineers, technicians, draughts persons, and delegate work effectively in the Civil Engineering Department.
Ensure that all employees in the team are supplied with the relevant tools required to perform jobs.
Formulate systems for smooth running of the Civil Engineering section to enable synergy and coherence.
Design and report in the Civil Engineering section to meet project objectives.
Prepare proposals, tender, and contract documents for infrastructure services nationally and internationally.
Monitor construction and implement site construction work on a part-time basis, ensuring compliance with design/specifications and standards.
Attend site meetings and prepare reports.
Perform ad-hoc office duties as assigned by the HoD: Civil Engineering.
Guide and train Engineers and technicians to ensure continuous professional development.
Keep abreast of technology development and research in the field of water and wastewater engineering.
Coordinate and supervise the production of technical drawings, design, and reporting inputs by supporting staff.
Manage client liaison including meetings and reporting.
Ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System ISO9001 requirements.
Assist with the preparation of requests for proposals, expressions of interest, panel applications, and tenders.
Manage projects and monitor performance and profitability.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
BEng (Civil), BTech (Civil) degree or equivalent.
Must be professionally registered or registrable with ECSA as PrEng/PrTech, and SAICE or any recognized professional body.
Experience managing a team of junior employees, i.e., technicians and trainees.
Minimum of 8 years or more in engineering design, management, and construction.
Extensive experience in the design and construction of steel water pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, abstraction works, and water treatment plants.
Legal knowledge of Employee Equity Act, Labour and Employment laws, OHS Act, and Design compliance standards.
Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and various civil and water design software.
Driver's License is essential.
Ensure that there is ISO compliance.
Regular inter-provincial and international site visits and meetings.
