SGS Matrolab is seeking to fulfil key roles as Civil Engineering Site Laboratory Managers. The role requires the incumbent to manage a site laboratory. He / She will be responsible for all laboratory related tasks, on site laboratory tasks. He / She shall be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and improvement of our quality systems to ensure that the laboratory functions smoothly, with excellent quality of service, contributing to accuracy, productivity, and profitability. To ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. To ensure materials testing is completed in all laboratory divisions, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate with bench calculation as and when required for testing. The Laboratory Manager will ensure that the laboratory is clean at all times and will carry out all work-related instructions from authorized personnel.
The ideal candidate for this position will be disciplined and treat colleagues and management with respect, deadline & revenue driven, and possess enough energy and passion to maintain good staff relationships. Job Description
Primary Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the relevant Regional Manager, the Senior Site Laboratory Manager is expected to:
Manage Laboratory Management production planning on site and meet deadlines.
Liaise with clients and the relevant regional manager.
Ensure reporting is correct before signing and distribution.
Implement quality control systems and Health and Safety regulations in and around the laboratory.
Oversee multi-disciplinary site laboratory including Soils, Concrete, Asphalt, Seals, and Aggregates.
Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
Assist the technicians with any job whether it is on site or inside the laboratory as per instruction from the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager.
Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.
Follow all SGS policies and procedures on site including but not limited to payroll, leave, and disciplinary procedures.
Provide training for all staff as training needs are identified.
Ensure all SGS mandatory training is completed as required.
Send all timesheets, claim forms, and payroll instructions to the relevant departments in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Education: Grade 12 & Civil/Geotechnical/National Diploma
Experience: 10 years relevant experience.
Competencies:
Drivers License
SANAS certificates: Lab systems & Internal auditing
Competent and qualified to perform all tests (TMH 1 and SANS) in all laboratory divisions including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete/aggregate
Competent and qualified to implement quality laboratory control
Competent and qualified to supervise and execute all field work
Familiar with COLTO
Knowledge of Health and Safety
