Qualifications
BSc / B Eng Civil Engineering
Experience
No previous experience required but any relevant previous work experience will be an advantage.
Must not currently be enrolled in a graduate development programme.
Academic performance will be taken into consideration.
Must have done their final year thesis and advanced design project in structural engineering.
Duties
Assist in designing infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, and water systems while ensuring compliance with technical standards.
Support construction teams by monitoring progress, ensuring projects adhere to timelines, and overseeing quality control on-site.
Conduct land surveys and collect data to inform design and construction decisions.
Help prepare cost estimates, budgets, and project timelines to ensure financial efficiency.
Ensure that projects meet environmental and safety regulations, minimizing impacts on the surrounding area.
Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers, while documenting project progress and preparing technical reports.
Structural design of structural steel and reinforced concrete structures from first principles as well as using design software in accordance with relevant SANS standards.
Review designs done by third parties and conduct routine inspections of construction work to ensure compliance with approved designs.
Track projects and ensure that they comply with financial, technical, and performance requirements.
