Chief Technology OfficerReference: JHB006274-MM1-2Our client, a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on the complete responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks and wildlife reserves in partnership with governments and local communities, is urgently looking for a Chief Technology Officer to be responsible for:Bringing together and coordinating the functional experts and activities of the IT and Support, Technology and Networks and Systems departments into an integrated Technology Department and formulate a unified strategy to address the organisation's various needs (both at the park level and the institutional platform).Establishing a single source of truth (SSOT) within the organisation, to allow for a central and reliable data and reporting system.Establishing and ensuring the maintenance of AP IT and Technology standards across all parks and Head Office, particularly in terms of security and connectivity.Maximising automation and systems integration to allow managers to focus on strategic issues, with the applicable systems allowing teams to "manage by exception."Duties & ResponsibilitiesIn order to be considered, the following is required:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, information technology, or engineering.Advanced degrees or certifications in technology management or business administration are a plus – or equivalent work experience.15 years of professional experience, with 5 years minimum in technology leadership roles.Deep understanding of a broad range of technologies, including information systems, software development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies relevant to the conservation sector.Abreast of technological trends and opportunities to foster innovation and operational efficiency in the conservation sector.Ability to develop and articulate a strategic vision.Ability to effectively manage projects, teams, and budgets.Experience in driving organisational change.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders (Exco, Board members, program managers, and external partners).Ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical language and build consensus around technology strategies.Capacity to thrive in a dynamic and resource-constrained environment.Fluent in English – spoken and written (Proficiency in French or Portuguese is an advantage).A passion for conservation and Africa, its wildlife and its people.Responsibilities:Strategy and planning.IT and support.Security and risk management.Technology and networks.System integration and architecture.Data Management.Leadership and management.Budget management.
