Position Overview:We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Chief Technology Officer to lead the company's technical vision and strategy, aligning it with the company's mission to establish itself as the leading decisioning and risk assessment platform in Africa. The ideal candidate will oversee all technical aspects of the company, lead engineering and product development teams, and ensure the delivery of innovative, secure, and scalable technology solutions that enable our ambitious growth goals.
Key Responsibilities:Technical Strategy & VisionDevelop and execute the company's long-term technology roadmap.Define technical architecture that supports rapid innovation and scalability.Make critical technology stack and infrastructure decisions.Continuously assess and implement emerging technologies that provide competitive advantage.Product & Engineering LeadershipBuild and lead a world-class engineering team from the ground up.Design robust, scalable software systems and technical infrastructure.Establish best practices for software development, code quality, and technical processes.Balance technical debt management with rapid product iteration.Implement effective engineering workflows and collaboration methodologies.Drive R&D efforts to explore alternative scoring solutions and predictive analytics for inclusive and unbiased decision-making.Ensure the integration of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and blockchain where applicable, to enhance product offerings.Team DevelopmentRecruit engineering talent that aligns with the company's culture and vision.Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering, R&D, and data partnerships teams.Create a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth.Develop mentorship programs and career development paths for technical team members.Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance engineering environment.Ensure cross-functional collaboration with Product, Operations, and Go-To-Market teams.Technical Operations & PerformanceEnsure all technology solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while maintaining the highest quality and reliability standards.Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response protocols.Optimize technology costs and resource allocation.Drive efficiency through automation and smart architectural choices.Drive continuous improvement in software development lifecycle processes and methodologies.Stakeholder CollaborationWork closely with product, design, and business teams to align technical capabilities with business objectives.Translate business requirements into technical specifications.Represent technology capabilities and constraints in executive discussions.Contribute to fundraising efforts by articulating technical vision and potential.Ideal Candidate Profile:Required Qualifications: 8-15 years of software engineering experience.4-6 years in technical leadership roles, preferably in early-stage startups.Proven track record of building and scaling software products.Deep technical expertise in building scalable infrastructure.Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.Experience in agile development methodologies.Exceptional communication and leadership skills.Technical Expertise: Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).Strong background in building scalable Data infrastructure.Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD practices.Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.Leadership & Personal Attributes: Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.Demonstrated ability to lead diverse technical teams and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.Ability to make decisive technical decisions with limited information.Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.High emotional intelligence and collaborative spirit.Compensation & Benefits:Competitive salary.Significant equity stake.Flexible work arrangements.Professional development budget.What We Offer:Opportunity to be a founding technical leader.Build a product from the ground up.Work with a passionate, innovative team.Create meaningful technological impact.Rapid career growth and learning opportunities.How to Apply:Get headhunted by COO or CEO or Submit application here.
